| Get your share of Lake Michigan salmon and trout angling fun aboard the Brother Nature, fishing with Captain Mike Schoonveld. The Brother Nature
offers the ultimate in Great Lakes fishing excitement on one of Indiana's
smallest licensed charter fishing boats. When it comes to fishing the
Great Lakes, size does matter and at 21 feet, Brother Nature is perfectly
sized for small groups. Captain Mike limits the passenger load to 4 or
fewer anglers and sets his prices to make outings affordable even when only
one, two or three anglers are on board. The Brother Nature's size makes
it trailerable and Capt. Mike uses that advantage to depart from a variety
of Indiana marinas. In the spring expect to leave from one of Lake
County's fine ports at Hammond Marina or East Chicago's Pastrick
Marina. This is where Indiana's coho salmon and brown trout bite first in
the spring and hang on near shore the longest as the water warms. In the
summer, most trips depart from Portage Marina in Porter County where access
to the lake is via Burns Waterway (also known as Burns Ditch). This is
home to Indiana's famed Skamania steelhead and the shortest route to
offshore areas where chinook (king) salmon and Lake Michigan lake trout are
found. |
